This is a mural I painted for a family in their wine room over walls finished in Venetian plaster. The initial meetings with the clients centered around the idea of a landscape inspired by scenes from central Italy and southern France they knew and loved. After a handful of sketches and some carefully chosen photographs, this is the final painting–which is actually a combination of them all. The mountains were inspired by photos of France, the vineyard and buildings from Italy, and the trees and other plant life from both. The best of both worlds combined to create a colorful feast for the eyes.
We asked Ryan to create a French Provencal landscape--a place we love for our new wine cellar. He painted a beautiful vista--with hills and a stonewall rolling into the distance where there are vineyards and lovely French countryside. You walk into our brick wall cellar room and there, on the wall, in the distance are the luminous colors of Provence. Ryan is also a great fellow to have around the house, a super hard worker and just interesting to be with.-client's comment
