The Wooden House

The finishes in this North Raleigh home were designed to flow seamlessly from the large foyer, to the sitting room, and to the dining room. Working from the colors and fabrics present in the home, I began in the foyer with a silver and plum metallic French wash over gold to create a contemporary yet regal finish. Accented with a stenciled design taken from their furniture, this finish greets you as you enter the home with style and warmth.

The sitting room begins with marbleized columns gilded at the top and bottom with silverleaf. The earthy rose and sienna colors in these columns I custom tinted to complement the foyer as well as the mural I designed for the ceiling in this room. Originally a flat white ceiling, I painted it to appear as a coffered ceiling to lift the height of the room. Each lid has a large rosette center piece painted in silver and acrylic surrounded by a deep, rich purple and a narrow band of rose marble to match the columns. visible to guests from the foyer, this beautiful mural invites people in to sit and make themselves at home.

Walking on past two more marbleized columns, you enter the dining room. These walls are coated in four coats of polished Venetian plaster I custom tinted to continue the rich purple in the first two rooms and to complement the fabrics and flowers chosen for this room. At once like velvet, at other times like polished marble, this plaster finish glows in the sunlight from outside during the day and reflects the warmth from the chandelier and sconces at night. It is both elegant and inviting.

I am so pleased with the masterful work of art you did in my foyer and living room. Your handiwork created a magnificent backdrop for my daughter's bridal portraits. Look to hear from me again soon.
